When I was in my early 20’s and working on my Kinesiology degree I had the “no excuses” mindset and that there was no reason good enough for people to be unhealthy. It wasn’t until I grew up and gained a lot of life experience that I really understood how food and overall poor lifestyle choices significantly affect all aspects of someone’s life. And that the reasons for poor choices are not that they’re “just lazy”.

I have been an RMT for the past decade and have worked with hundreds of people in this time. I have seen the negative effects of their poor lifestyle choices and so many are resigned to think that how they feel is “just how it is now”. I had a strong pull towards helping people realize that they are in control and they don’t have to continue to feel that way, and it’s never too late to learn and make the changes to lead a healthy, active, energetic life.

My clients often feel unsatisfied or lack confidence in their current eating habits and body composition. However, there are several reasons why they may feel disempowered to work towards these goals.

One of the main challenges they face is a lack of time. Juggling multiple roles and responsibilities, such as family and career, leaves little room for self-care and nutritious meal planning. The demands of work and personal life can lead to stress and overwhelm, resulting in disrupted eating patterns and reliance on unhealthy convenience foods.

Moreover, the abundance of conflicting nutrition information can be confusing and overwhelming. This uncertainty makes it difficult for my dream clients to make the best decisions for themselves, hindering their progress towards a healthier lifestyle.

In my own journey, I have experienced the struggle of “having it all” as well. The pressures we, especially as women, face to excel in various roles often lead to feelings of overwhelm, self-doubt, and mental fatigue. Unhealthy eating habits can be a manifestation of these negative emotions, further impacting our well-being.

However, through my experiences, I have discovered the power of making myself a priority. By scheduling time to plan and prepare convenient, nutritious, energy-boosting foods for myself and my family, I found that I could better manage my to-do list and achieve a more balanced life.
